OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy


OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy helps the learner gain a basic understanding about the accounting framework. It allows learners to go on and pursue a higher education in accounting. This course helps to obtain the requisite skills needed for managerial positions. This qualification gives the learner an idea of how to manage capital and cash flow at companies.

After completing OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy, the learner can qualify for the next level. The RQF Level 3 qualification awarded by OTHM includes practical knowledge, skills, capabilities, and competencies that are evaluated as being equivalent to GCE AS/A levels from an academic point of view.

OTHM is an established and recognised Awarding Organisation (Certification Body) launched in 2003. All qualifications of OTHM is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) and recognised by Qualifications Wales. OTHM is also a full member of Federation of Awarding Bodies (FEB). UK universities recognise OTHM qualifications and allow OTHM graduates to join relevant Bachelor Degree Final year/Master/MBA top-up programmes.

  • The learner must be 16 years or more at the time of enrolment
  • International learners who are not from a predominantly English-speaking country will need to have score of 5.5 or above in IELTS Examination or equivalent.

 

Learners who complete the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy will be able to advance into:

  • Broad range of undergraduate programmes including OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and Business.
  • OTHM provides qualifications that are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). The learners can be very assertive of the quality of the qualifications provided as well.
  • All OTHM qualifications are designed to furnish learners with the skills and knowledge that every employer is looking for. A learner who is pursuing an OTHM qualification will gain key competencies to tackle situations and work on projects more effectively which will in turn gives learners the potential to get a sudden upraise in their career.
  • It also makes them eligible to progress onto a globally approved desired programme.

 

The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy consists of 3 mandatory units for a combined total of 60 credits, 600 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 240 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Learners must request before enrolment to interchange unit(s) other than the preselected units shown in the SBL website because we need to make sure the availability of learning materials for the requested unit(s). SBL will reject an application if the learning materials for the requested interchange unit(s) are unavailable.

Learners are not allowed to make any request to interchange unit(s) once enrolment is complete.

The aim of this unit is to give learners a basic knowledge of how to record financial transactions. The unit covers what is needed to record financial transactions accurately and completely, for example source documents. Finally, the unit explores how income and expenditure is classified and managed.

The units aims to develop learners’ awareness of aspects of cost and management accounting, including the purpose of management information. The unit introduces the use of ICT in the recording of management information, including its advantages and disadvantages.

This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of why financial records need to be kept. The learner will develop the ability to use the double-entry system of bookkeeping and to prepare a three-column cash book and a bank reconciliation statement.
